Please join us for our Annual General Meeting on June 18, 2025. Doors open at 6 p.m., meeting starts at 6:30 p.m.
 

Enjoy a snack and come learn about FireSmarting your property, protecting your water rights and how to register your well, youth volunteer opportunities and bursaries, what we do, and how you can help us continue to operate and upkeep our beautiful Community Hall. We always need volunteers for a variety of events and tasks.
 

We’ll be voting for updated Bylaws and a 2025/26 Board of Directors. You must be a current member in good standing to vote at the AGM. Membership renewals are $20/year per household or $10/year per individual and expire each year in June prior to the AGM. Renewal fees can be e-Transferred to steelheadcommunity@gmail.com with your Bank Confirmation # and name. 100% of membership dues go towards maintaining the Hall!

The AGM agenda will include a special resolution for members to vote on updated SCA Bylaws. The BC Societies Act changed (Bill 19) requiring societies' bylaws to be brought into conformance with the Act. Our non-profit bylaws hadn't been updated for many years, so they needed refreshing. Key bylaw clauses reviewed and updated include: confirming term limits for directors; membership classes and dues; member requisitions (proposals); notice to members;  members' meetings and agendas; no proxy voting by members or directors; provisions to address conflicts of interest; directors' responsibilities, qualifications, incapacity, and removal; updates to protect the register of members; access to records; and updates to capture disclosure of contractor remuneration over $75K in financial statements.
