Underway

Your Steelhead Assocation has a number of initiatives underway.
Community Hall - Steelhead has been without a Community Hall for many years now. It is been a vision of the association to build and maintain a new community hall for the residents of Steelhead. The main purpose of the hall will be to serve as a central marshalling station in the event of an emergency, but it will also be used to bring the community closer by serving as a local meeting place for community events. Check the Community Hall page for details on progress made to date, schedule, share ideas for future programs/events, and learn how you can get involved!
Fundraisers - To build and maintain a community hall, we need funds. Check out a list of fundraisers that we have underway.
High Speed Internet - Learn about the options available to us for highspeed internet access and see what we are doing to try to do to bring affordable highspeed access to Steelhead.
Emergency Preparedness Program - Steelhead has always been a community whose members were able to rise to the occasion in the face of an emergency or community concern. This was displayed by the kindness of neighbours helping neighbours during the windstorms, snow and lengthy power outages last winter. Some helped thier neighbour with collecting wood so they could keep warm in the numerous power and telephone outages. Some were out with their chainsaws removing fallen trees from the road. Some shoveled driveways for people medically shut-in. This is the spirit of community that we can all be proud of!
Last fall SCA became involved with the Provincial Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program last, which was timely due our first meeting falling on the eve the first major windstorm of the year! This very worthy program was graciously headed by Laurel Exner, Emergency Coordinator in Mission) and will be instrumental to community safety during bad weather conditions or something even more catastrophic. However, this program relies completely on the support of the community and we would ask that you please drop us a line if you would like to be on our community triage list or would like to become involved in this beneficial community program before the inclement weather sets in.
